The Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction promotes sustainable responses to the technological, environmental, socioeconomic and cultural issues affecting building and construction at the national, regional and global levels.

To encourage innovative approaches to sustainable construction, the foundation conducts activities including: Holcim Awards competition, Holcim Forum symposium, Holcim Grants seed funding for building initiatives and grants for research projects.

Holcim Awards competition 2008/09
52 winners from 28 countries of the second Holcim Awards competition were announced in late 2008. Ceremonies were held in Madrid, Montreal, Mexico City, Marrakech and New Delhi.A total of 15 nominees will now compete for the global Holcim Awards to be announced May 8, 2009.

Holcim Forum 2010 - “Re-inventing construction”
The theme for the third Holcim Forum is “Re-inventing construction.” The symposium will be hosted by the Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA) and held in Mexico City on April 14-17, 2010.
