His Excellency, Dante Martinelli, is the Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Switzerland in the People’s Republic of China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Mongolia, with residence in Beijing.
Born in Faido, in the Canton of Ticino, Switzerland in 1947, Dante Martinelli studied politics at the l'Institut d'études politiques de Paris (IEP).
He joined the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in 1979, in Bern and Tunis. He was a member of the Office of Integration DFAE/DFE from 1981 to 1985, when he was transferred to Washington in charge of international financial business.
In 1989, he became an Advisor at the Embassy of Switzerland in Paris, focusing on economic issues.
Dante Martinelli was appointed Ambassador of Switzerland in Italy, Malta and San Marino with residence in Rome in 1993, and then Ambassador of Switzerland in the European Community with residence in Brussels in 1999.
