
Amer Moustafa is Associate Professor of architecture within the School of Architecture and Design at the American University of Sharjah (AUS), United Arab Emirates.
His teaching and research interests are in the areas of urban design and planning, city form and urban transformation, urban governance and culture, globalization and urban identity, and the democratic city.
Moustafa holds a PhD from the University of Southern California, a Science Master of Architecture Studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Aleppo, Syria.
Before coming to the UAE, he had spent over 15 years in the United States in consulting, research, and teaching. He held teaching positions at the University of Southern California, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and CalPoly, Pomona.
