The Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA) was founded in Mexico City in 1943. At present, it is home to more than 11,000 students, and more than 2,000 external teachers, researchers and academic faculty members.The UIA has 19 Academic Departments (faculties), offering 38 undergraduate programs and 30 graduate programs. In addition, this university offers more than 185 Diploma courses for professionals.
The UIA is a private institution pertaining to the Jesuit University System, sponsored by the Society of Jesus. It embraces the Society’s philosophical and educational project. The UIA has 5 campuses: Mexico City (Santa Fe), León, Torreón, Puebla y Tijuana.
The principal campus, Mexico City, encompasses an area of 183,352 m2. The main library, Biblioteca Francisco Xavier Clavijero, holds more than 400,000 books, magazines and journals and is the largest library of a private university in Mexico.
The Mexico City campus also has its own 3000 Watt radio station, Ibero 90.9.
