Two million dollars in prize money for sustainable construction projects

Zurich, November 8, 2004 —The recently established Holcim Awards for Sustainable Construction have been created to promote sustainable construction worldwide.

Entries in the Awards are now open. Sustainable construction projects can be submitted for the Awards via the Internet until March 31, 2005. The prize money for the five regional competitions and the global awards totals USD two million.

Sustainable construction: Not a faraway ideal – an urgent necessity

Zürich, September 17, 2004. — Sustainable construction is an urgent requirement, according to more than 120 experts meeting for the first Holcim Forum in Zurich, Switzerland. Hosted by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), the message of the forum was that sustainable construction is not a far-away idea – but an urgent necessity.

Chair in Sustainable Construction at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich

Zurich, February 5, 2004. – The Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction has signed a donor agreement enabling the ETH in Zurich to create a new assistant professorship. The position is to be filled effective 2005 with an initial tenure of six years in accordance with a regular ETH election procedure.
