New book explains “target issues” of the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction

Zurich, December 4, 2006 – The construction industry is one of the world’s largest consumers of energy and materials, and offers great potential for improving sustainability performance. A new book, Office building in Costa Rica: measuring up to the criteria of sustainable construction, explains the Holcim Foundation’s five “target issues” with reference to a new office building. The publication promotes sustainable responses to the technological, environmental, socio-economic and cultural issues related to building and construction.

Toward sustainable urban solutions

Holcim Forum for Sustainable Construction 2007:
Urban_Trans_Formation

Zurich, October 30, 2006 – More than 200 international experts will meet in China at the Holcim Forum for Sustainable Construction to be held from April 19 to 21, 2007. Muhammad Yunus, founder of micro-credit and Grameen Bank, honored for pioneering work to alleviate poverty.

Zurich/Oslo, October 13, 2006 – Bangladeshi economist Muhammad Yunus, a founding member of the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction Advisory Board, has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize announced in Oslo today.

Holcim Awards honor sustainable construction

Winners of first worldwide competition for sustainable construction projects announced

Zurich/Bangkok, April 25, 2006 – USD 1 million in prize money was awarded to the best sustainable construction projects entered in the first global Holcim Awards competition. Joint winners of the Holcim Awards Gold were an urban integration project in Caracas, Venezuela, and the design for a new main railway station in Stuttgart, Germany.
